Smiles for miles as students collect GCSE results
Students across Redhill Academy Trust have completed Year 11 by collecting their GCSE results.
After previous school years being impacted by COVID, this year’s cohort sat their exams in the traditional way.
Their hard work, determination and achievements were celebrated alongside staff and parents in schools across our region.
A snapshot of the celebrations could be seen at Brookfield Community School in Chesterfield.
While the national average for GCSE and Level 2 qualifications has dropped to pre-COVID (2019) levels, Brookfield bucked the trend with results having improved significantly since 2019. Almost 60% of students achieved a strong pass (grade 5 or above) in both Maths and English, while 80% achieved a standard pass (grade 4 or above) in both subjects. The Attainment 8 measure, which shows the average grade every student received in all subjects, is 5.4 (from 4.7 in 2019).
Headteacher, Keith Hirst, said it was ‘enormously pleasing’ to see Brookfield students perform so impressively. “To achieve a level of performance in line with our outstanding 2022 results – and well beyond those of 2019 – is a reflection of the hard work and determination of everyone involved.”

Many students will now continue their studies at one of the Trust's seven sixth form centres.
